About us

The modern firm and our culture

Leeds Day is focused on meeting the needs of our clients through our wealth of knowledge and expertise. We put our clients front and centre of all that we do.

We are an award winning firm and are recognised by the Law Society as having met the highest standards of client care with Lexcel accreditation, and many of our lawyers are accredited specialists in their fields of expertise. Our multi-disciplinary teams work collaboratively to ensure that whatever your legal needs or challenges are, they are faced in the best possible way.

Building on the way we work as a firm, we use the same approach with our clients, learning and understanding what it is that you need rather than telling you what we think you need.

With offices in Huntingdon and St Neots, we have a significant presence advising individual and corporate clients in the Cambridgeshire region, as well as nationally.

Our history

The modern practice of Leeds Day was established in 1989, through the amalgamation of two firms known as Leeds Smith and Day & Son, with roots going back over 200 years.

In the 1820’s George Game Day, founder of Day & Son acted for promoters of parliamentary bills to improve the navigation of the River Great Ouse and in the bringing of the railways to the area. He is known to have called on both George Stephenson, inventor of “The Rocket”, and the famous Victorian Engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, as expert witnesses in securing official sanction for the improvements planned for the area to include the St Ives Railway (now the Guided Busway).

Edward Thurlow, Leeds Smith’s father founded the Leeds Smith side of the Practice in 1856.

In September 2002, six of the partners continued as the successor partnership carrying on the name of Leeds Day into the future.

On 1st April 2019, the traditional partnership firm converted to a LLP and is now known as Leeds Day LLP.

There are currently 3 Partners (Members), 2 Salaried Partners, totalling over 40 lawyers and staff based across 2 offices in Huntingdon and St. Neots.

The firm maintains close links to the local communities in which it is based. Involvement in local groups, charities and business communities is important to us.
